Passion or Expectations

October 24, 2015

What's your passion? What's makes you wake up everyday and makes your day worth meaning?

I can remember back when I asked these things to myself everyday. I was just finishing high school, trying to figure out what was going to be the next step in my life. (Unfortunately it was working in a department store but I got it together soon enough) Where did I fit in and how could I be useful? Not just useful as someone in a assembly line but useful as in make a difference in the world.

One of the best things I did in my life was following my passion and not what was expected of me. (I sound like a rebel but I promise it will fall together soon enough) I was expected to go to a four year college after high school and get a degree in something that I would never use, like biology or chemistry. Turned out I wanted to stay close to my family and go after my passion in art and physical therapy. While studying those things I tapped into my real passion which was helping others relieve their pain from the discomforts of daily living.

Then it hit me like a commercial that told me exactly what to do (literally). I realized that massage therapy provided me with the opportunity to help others, relieve people's pain and discomforts and be useful. What more could I ask for? Turns out I got pretty good at it too. I am a type of person who could camp out on the beach for days and be completely content as long as one thing a day is exciting and unpredictable. Massage does these things for me because not every one body is the same. Everyone has their own issues own rituals and own way of living which affects their body different in some way or form differently than another. This is the excitement (and of course relaxation) that I love, in the words of Forrest Gump "Life is like a box of chocolate, you never know what your gonna get." And its so true!

From the moment of sitting and studying something that didn't light a fire in me like I desired. I asked myself what I really wanted and how I wanted to impact the world I live in for the better, and followed that notion until I was content. Following your passion can lead you to the things that your never thought our imagined you could do. A little spark in your life can go a long way in your future.

So I said all that to ask you again. What are you going to do to change the world and make a difference? What is your passion in life? All it takes is one moment in a day to make your life better than it was yesterday and one step closer to your goal. Take the leap and make a change. You'll look back on this time later on life and tell yourself "Wow it was something as simple as a commercial that changed my life ." Take that moment and shine.
